About the Broken Link Checker
The checker collects up to 60 links from the page and requests each one, at most two at a time per site so other servers are not hammered. Links that answer 4xx/5xx or fail to connect are listed.
Some sites refuse automated requests (403, 429 or 999). Those are reported separately so you can check them in a browser.
How it works
- We fetch the URL from our server like a crawler: redirects are followed (up to five), private and internal addresses are refused, and large pages are capped.
- The checks run on the live HTML and response headers. Nothing is guessed: every finding shows what we observed.
- Results are not stored unless you are signed in, in which case they appear in your dashboard history.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this to find link-building opportunities?
Yes. Broken links on resource pages in your niche are a classic opportunity: tell the owner and suggest your page as a replacement if it truly fits.
